320 Micro Scene Week 2 (4/15/2020)

For my project, I chose 25 different objects for this scene. This list includes:

In this list, “small”/”big” and numerals indicate a second or group of similar objects. For example, I have two different hammers in my scene, but each a different size and slightly different detail. This assortment of items will serve as my base for my scene.

I will most likely be pulling other models and assets from online, as I want to make this rather viking/dragon themed, based on How to Train Your Dragon. While they will not be exactly the designs from the franchise, I will choose elements that are in the same vein. These will include:

  • Dragon statues
  • Dragon decorations (signage, ornamental symbols)
  • More swords and axes
  • Viking helmets
  • Hay or other cusion-like material (straw or wheat)

These will all add decoration to the otherwise generic scene I currently have. As I continue to build my scene, I will add decorations as I see fit.

I also began UVing this week. I took on one of the more complicated structures this time, the stable-shed. In my mind, this would be a place for either dragons or horses, or any large riding creature. As my scene is placed in a fantasy like world, I can imagine any riding creature could live there.

Uving this structure was very confusing, but it didn’t take long for me to figure it out. I still need to arrange all of my components of the stable, however I was able to break the structure down.

320 Micro Scene Final - Week 1 (4/8/2020)

For this week, I just blocked out my scene with my selected assets. I chose 19 out of the assets I was given for the project (9 more than the minimum of 10), in order to get the right feel for my scene. I wanted to create a scene that is more of an area for a blacksmith, rather than a shop, since indoor shops can often get very warm. I imagined it was part of a village, and this was a road that went through the blacksmith area, where people could stop and observe, with all of the dangerous equipment on one side so there would not be any dangerous transportation across the road.













This portion went extremely smoothly. After I looked over the assets, my mind went instantly to How to Train Your Dragon, so I wanted to model it after that idea for my textures. The layout was similarly inspired by the layout of the shop, with the weapons on display, and a table nearby with the tools laid out on it, as well as serving as a break spot. 




I will still play around with the placements of objects until I get a solid idea of where I want things. I may move the stable and rickshaw over to form a corner, so it isn’t a straight road passing through
